Research In Motion, Texas Instruments: U.S. Equity Preview


Amerigroup Corp. (AGP US): The manager of health-care benefits provided by government programs forecast higher medical cost trends for 2011, revising its full-year health-benefits ratio to as much as 84.9 percent from an earlier prediction of no more than 84.1 percent as of July 29.
Cooper Industries Plc (CBE US): The Houston-based maker of electrical distribution equipment forecast earnings in 2011 will be no more than $3.82 a share, missing the average analyst estimate of $3.90.
Diamond Foods Inc. (DMND US): The packaged foods company forecast earnings in 2012 will be at least $3.05 a share, topping a previous prediction of no more than $2.98 and the average analyst estimate of $3.06.
Research In Motion Ltd. (RIMM US): The maker of the BlackBerry smartphone missed analysts’ estimates for the second quarter on lower-than-expected sales of phones and the PlayBook tablet computer. Profit, excluding some costs, fell to 80 cents a share, compared with the average analyst prediction of 88 cents. Revenue fell to $4.17 billion, compared with the average estimate of $4.47 billion.
Texas Instruments Inc. (TXN US): The largest maker of analog chips boosted its quarterly dividend 31 percent to 17 cents a share as it sells technologies that generate more cash.
